1933-2008

An Air Force veteran of 22 years, who served in both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars, died at North Memorial Hospital on January 11, 2008 at the age of 75.  He was born in Stockholm, Sweden, the second son of Ellis and Ester Colson.  The family was living in London when WWII broke out; they left for the U.S. in 1940, settling in Massachusetts for several years before coming to  He enlisted in 1948 and, among other assignments, was part of the U.S. Embassy Air Staffs in Paris, Addis Ababa, Beirut, and Rangoon.  A Master Sergeant when he retired, he was proud of his service and was very patriotic.  He graduated from Dunwoody Institute and for many years was a Construction Project Manager at Kraus-Anderson.  He liked skiing, but loved to golf and play his piano, especially Bach. 

The family especially thanks the wonderful staffs at the VA Hospital, North Memorial Hospital where he received tremendous care.

Survived by daughter, Lora Elizabeth Trimble of St. Paul; stepson, John (Kris) Thompson of Atlanta; grandchildren, Simon and Grace Trimble; step-grandson, Gareth Thompson; brothers, Leroy Colson of San Jose, CA and Lennart (Beverly) Colson of Plymouth, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service Tuesday, January 22 at 10:30 AM at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata.

Private interment at Ft. Snelling Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.
