Medlo, John Joseph Passed away at his home in Columbia Heights at age 69, on Friday, April 27, 2012.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Medlo.  "In sickness and in health, until death do us part."

John is survived by his dear wife, Pat (Landry) of 46 years who was by his side throughout his life and lovingly dedicated herself to his care and comfort during his final days.  Son, Jon and daughter-in-law, Audrey (Stachovich), helped dad and mom whenever and wherever it was needed.  Granddaughter, Morgan, age 8, made "Papa" smile and knew grandpa and grandma needed a lot of hugs.

His family was his life.  John's probably already joined the golf league in heaven and you guys better watch out because he's already had two holes-in-one.  I hope you get familiar with his favorite challenge, "Buck a hole?"  Anybody getting too wordy will get the comment, "What's your point?"  He cared about his community and spearheaded the drive for the University Avenue renovation.

He is survived by his sister, Joan Pilaczynski, who sang him to sleep when he was a baby; brother-in-law, Ron, who got him his first job as a draftsman; niece, Terri, who at age 3, after spilling her juice, told grandma that, "Johnny did it."; his favorite "cop" Rich Wisniewski; sister, Agnes Riley and niece, Maria Riley of California and many relatives and friends.

Special thanks to Bernie Stachovich (Audrey's mom), and Bridget Kohl for their compassion, prayers and support.  John, we'll miss your sense of humor, quick funny retorts and easy going nature.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM, Monday at Kapala-Glodek Funeral Home, 230 13th Ave. NE, Mpls.  The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, TUESDAY, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Lourdes Place, Mpls.

In lieu of flowers, John would have thanked you for memorials or donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Church where he was an usher, Pope John Paul II School: 1630 4th St. NE, Mpls.,  or Opportunity Partners: 5500 Opportunity Ct., Minnetonka, MN.  Private Interment.
